脑垂体分子式：CAS号：性质：又称垂体。最主要的内分泌腺。人的脑垂体大如樱桃，椭圆形，以小柄悬系于脑的下方，位于颅中窝的垂体窝内。根据胚胎发育和生理功能，脑垂体可分为前叶和后叶两部分。前叶较大，能分泌多种激素，对于生长发育，尤其是对骨骼的生长，以及对新陈代谢和性的功能等均有调节作用，并能影响其他分分泌腺的活动。幼年时期为前叶功能亢进，可引起身体过分增长，开成“巨人症”，如功能减退，则妨碍身体发育，形成身材异常矮小的侏儒症。后叶较小，其内的激素，是由丘脑下部的视上核和室旁核的神经细胞所分泌，神经分泌的颗粒沿轴突下行进入后叶，这些激素有升血压、刺激子宫收缩和抗利尿等作用。
