巢湖巢湖中国主要淡水鱼区之一。位于安徽省中部。又称焦湖。湖面海拔10米，东西长78千米，南北宽约44千米，面积820平方千米，是一个地层陷落形成的构造湖。蓄水量36亿立方米。若以湖中姥山岛与忠庙一线为界，分巢湖为东西两湖。西湖位于湖体西北，湖水较浅；东湖湖面宽广，水域较深。有杭埠河、丰乐河、派河、南淝河、店埠河、柘皋河、烔炀河等注入，年平均入湖水量为39.8亿立方米。通过巢湖闸，由东南出东关，经裕溪河注入长江。由于成湖以后，接受周围山地洪水带来的大量泥沙淤积，湖面变小，湖水变浅，成为一个浅水型湖泊。平均深度2～3米，最大水深5米。巢湖周围地区，农田灌溉事业发展很快，湖水入不敷出，为确保巢湖能蓄、能灌，又能发展水产事业和航运，1978年11月完成了引江灌巢工程，以80立方米/秒的流量，从长江引水经无为县凤凰颈流入巢湖。引江灌巢主要在巢湖消耗水量最多的枯水季节进行，汛期江水可以倒灌入湖。巢湖汇集诸河来水，又与长江沟通，鱼饵充足，水温适度，水产丰富，其中银鱼和白米虾、湖蟹素享盛名。湖区坦荡，水网密布，土地肥沃，是安徽省重要的粮、棉、油、麻的生产基地。沿湖重要港口有巢城、散兵、槐林、忠庙、施口、新河等。湖区名胜古迹众多，已辟为安徽省重点旅游区。巢湖风光
