应力腐蚀拉应力在处于环境介质(腐蚀介质和某些非腐蚀介质)的金属材料中引发裂纹,使其扩展,导致开裂的过程,是断裂力学的一个研究内容。研究表明,金属材料在某些环境介质中受拉力作用时,即使内部应力远低于屈服极限(见材料的力学性能),环境介质腐蚀作用并不严重,也会产生断裂(见图)。2水溶液中的应力腐蚀断口(放大照片)">应力腐蚀引起部件破坏所需的时间,比起在力和腐蚀单独作用下所需时间之和要短得多。应力腐蚀开裂有以下几个特点:①拉应力是产生应力腐蚀开裂的必要条件,应力可以是由外载荷引起的,也可以是由焊接或冷加工引起的;②纯金属一般不发生应力腐蚀,但只要含有少量的合金元素,应力腐蚀就会出现;③应力腐蚀是一种延迟断裂,即金属构件在应力作用下需经过一定的时间才能断裂;④通常是脆性断裂;⑤环境介质是特定的,即一种金属材料只在某些特定的介质中才会发生应力腐蚀。由于应力腐蚀常导致破坏事故,所以从20世纪初起就引起工程界的注意。当时主要是通过实验进行研究。50年代以前,多采用平滑物体作试件,实验结果和实际情况差别较大,因为在实际构件中,一般都存在裂纹或缺陷。随着50年代末断裂力学的兴起,研究中引入了应力强度因子KI,并用预制裂纹试样进行实验,至此,应力腐蚀的研究才有了进展。对大多数应力腐蚀系统来说,存在着一个由介质和材料决定的临界应力强度因子K,KI低于这个临界值就不会出现应力腐蚀。对中低强度的材料,也有人用J 积分作为应力腐蚀的控制参量。应力腐蚀涉及化学、物理、冶金和力学等多学科的内容,问题比较复杂,人们对其机理不甚了解,迄今只有一些假说,常见的有机械电化学反应假说、氢脆假说、吸附假说和位错假说等。
