会计数据处理电算化运用电子计算机采集、存储、加工和传输会计数据的总称。亦称"电子计算机会计"，简称"EDP会计"。沿革 从历史上看，处理会计数据的技术手段经历了手工处理、半手工、半机械化处理、机械化处理和电子化处理等几个发展阶段。电子化处理始于20世纪50年代的一些发达国家。最初是由电子计算机模拟人的手工操作，主要用来处理那些数量大、计算简单而重复多的会计事项，多采用批处理方式。以后进入建立独立的会计数据处理系统阶段，电子计算机在会计中应用的范围不断扩大，由单纯模拟手工操作的事后核算，转变为处理进行经济预测、决策、分析、控制所需要的复杂会计数据，由简单地对初始信息的加工转变为创作新的信息。数据处理方式除批处理外，更多地采用实时处理。20世纪70年代以来，随着电子计算机和现代化通讯技术的结合，实践中出现了电子计算机网络化和软件方面数据库的应用，一些发达国家的企事业单位建立起由电子计算机处理的全面管理信息系统，会计信息作为一个子系统纳入全面管理信息系统的总体中，共享系统中所有各方面的信息，会计数据处理电算化发展到一个新的阶段。要求 实现会计数据处理电算化要做到：①全部会计事项都编成输入数据；②会计数据处理系统化；③选择一种计算机可以接受的语言，用以编制指挥计算机处理会计数据的各项程序；④在计算机系统内设置各种文件，以存储和汇总各种会计数据；⑤将会计数据处理结果，定期或实时输出，打印成帐表资料，以满足内部管理和对外提供会计报表的需要；⑥输入、存储、加工和输出会计数据都采用电子设备。作用 实现会计数据处理电算化，一方面可以大大提高会计数据处理的质量，及时、准确地提供会计信息；另一方面还可以扩展会计数据处理的领域，及时、准确地处理在手工操作下难以处理的复杂数据。这样，既可以在经营管理中广泛地应用现代数学方法，提高其科学水平；又可以把会计人员从加工处理初始信息的大量重复性简单劳动中解脱出来，使之从事具有开拓意义的创作新信息和利用信息进行经营管理的工作。实现会计数据处理电算化，对传统的会计帐务处理程序进行根本性的改革，要具备一定的条件。在中国，随着社会主义现代化建设的发展和管理现代化水平的不断提高，电子计算机正逐步被应用于会计工作中去，特别是微处理机应用得更加广泛。
