交流高压试验变压器产生工频正弦波高电压的电源装置。主要用于各种绝缘试验,如工频耐压试验(见绝缘耐压试验),介质击穿、介质损耗因数(见介质损耗)、局部放电等的测试,绝缘子污闪试验(见图)以及输电线路的电晕损耗、静电感应、带电作业试验等。此外,它还用作直流高压装置、冲击电压发生器、冲击电流发生器、某些类型的操作波发生器等的高压电源。早在代中,美国西屋电气公司就制造出用4个单元变压器相串级起来的、电压高达1000千伏的一套试验设备。目前中国和世界上多数工业发达国家都具有2250千伏的试验变压器(见图)。交流高压试验变压器在原理上与电力变压器并无区别,只是前者一般为单相,高压绕组的一端接地,额定容量小(或额定电流小),短路阻抗大,在额定电压下不允许长期工作。此外,交流高压试验变压器采用较低的铁心磁通密度,以减少由铁磁的非线性特性造成正弦电压波形的失真。对于进行局部放电测试的试验变压器,还要求其绝缘有较低的局部放电水平。试验变压器采用铁壳结构或绝缘壳结构。后者重量轻,但散热差,不能长期在室外使用。单台的额定电压限于1000千伏以下。更高电压的试验装置常采用2~3台串级构成。最高额定电压达2250千伏。但这种设备的利用率较低,并且短路电抗较大。试验变压器的额定电流较小,通常为1安(个别仅0.1安),最大不超过4安。在进行绝缘试验时,需核算试品电流大小。当试品的电容为C(皮法)、试验电压为U(千伏)、角频率为ω时,试品电流为I=ωCU×10-9(安)在进行绝缘子的湿闪和污闪试验时,要求试验变压器能供给较大额定电流,为此应选用容量较大、短路电抗较小的试验变压器。为了限制试品击穿时试验变压器高压绕组上的梯度过电压,多数试验变压器要求外串一个保护电阻R(见图)。试验变压器可通过自耦调压器、移卷调压器或电动发电机组进行调压。后者能提供更为标准的正弦波电源。
