航道治理采取工程措施,改善和维持航道的通航条件。天然河流的某些河段在平面形态(宽度和曲率半径)、水深和流态等方面往往难以满足通航要求。治理的任务就是采取工程措施整修河道,以达到并维持所要求的通航条件。近代治河着重水利资源综合利用。航道治理通常要兼顾防洪、发电、灌溉、供水等多种目标,统筹规划,以取得最大经济效益。航道治理的方法主要有疏浚、整治、渠化和径流调节,可根据治理目的和航道具体情况分别采用或结合采用。疏浚工程是浚深航道中的浅滩和排除障碍;整治工程是用堤坝调整水流和河床,稳定河势,增加水深;渠化工程是修筑闸坝挡水,将天然河流造成为渠化河流,船舶借助于船闸或升船机过坝;径流调节是利用上游水库在洪水期拦蓄的水,在枯水期排放,以增加下游的水深,这种工程多同水利工程结合起来。现代航道治理,在一条河流的不同河段,可采取不同的措施。在中上游河段及支流,通常采取多目标渠化工程进行径流调节;在中下游河段及河口一般采用整治工程与疏浚工程相结合的方法。山区河段由于比降大,水流急,槽窄滩多,流态混乱,以渠化治理最为理想,但也可根据地理水文特点,采用炸礁、清槽疏浚和整治工程。对于石质河床的不良形态,控制水流,炸除水浅的石梁暗礁,修整河床边界,就可降低流速改善流态。沙卵石河床因洪枯季节水量悬殊,洪季冲下的物质在枯季沉积成滩,可用整治工程辅以疏浚工程加以治理。中国在长江上游峡谷河段采用炸礁、清槽疏浚和整治工程相结合的方法治理了多处滩险,使水深从2.0米增至3.0米。中下游河段处于两岸有开阔台地的冲积平原,比降较小,沙质河床易变,在水流和泥沙运动的长期作用下,平面形态有顺直、弯曲、宽窄不一、分汊汇流、河床纵向起伏不平、深槽与浅滩相间等特征。治理的方法是调整水流和河床,用建筑物堵塞支汊或加强主汊,束狭过宽河槽,集中水流于中水位河床,固定河湾深槽,制定浅滩段低水位河线,规顺其流路以刷深浅滩,缓和或裁直过度弯曲的河段,便利安全航行。整治工程能够稳定河势,是治理平原河段较经济有效的措施。
