交通运轮机械：船舶制造人类造船已有悠久的历史。从史前刳木为舟起﹐在漫长的时期内人类制造的都是利用人力或风力推进的木船。1807年﹐美国的富尔顿﹐R.建成世界上第一艘蒸汽机船﹐当时采用明轮推进。1879年﹐世界上第一艘钢船问世。从此船舶进入了以钢船为主﹑以机器为动力的时代。从20世纪50年代起﹐船舶推进装置由汽轮机和柴油机逐步取代蒸汽机﹐并开始应用核能作为推进动力。由于航运的发展和军事上的需要﹐船舶趋于大型化和专业化﹐造船技术随之迅速发展﹐造船业已成为世界上最主要的重工业部门之一。 船舶由成千上万种零件构成﹐几乎与各个工业部门都有关系。除特有的船体建造技术外﹐造船还涉及到机械﹑电气﹑冶金﹑建筑﹑化学以至工艺美术等各个领域。因此﹐造船是以全部工业技术为基础的一门综合技术﹐反映一个国家的工业技术水平。 由于船舶的航区﹑任务和要求不同﹐船舶产品具有品种多﹑生产批量小的特点。为了有节奏地生产﹐缩短制造周期﹐造船厂从接受订货至完工交船为止﹐都必须有周密的生产管理和技术管理。造船用的材料品种多﹑数量大﹐其中以钢材的使用量为最大。例如﹐制造一艘装载量为 1万吨的货船需要钢材3000～4000吨。船体结构用的材料主要是碳素钢和低合金高强度钢(见钢)。采用高强度钢可减轻船体自重﹐降低推进功率﹐达到多装客货﹑增加装备或提高航速的目的。小型舰艇还采用铝合金﹑玻璃钢或钛合金作为船体材料。船舶需要在严酷的环境下营运﹐对于船用材料﹐除保证冶炼方法﹑化学成分和机械性能外﹐在可焊性能和耐蚀性能等方面都有较高的要求。造船厂 造船厂均位于沿海或江河之滨﹐应有一定的岸线长度和水深。厂区内设有船台﹑造船坞﹑滑道﹑装码头和大型起重机等专用造船设备。造船厂内设有各种生产车间。船体加工车间﹕担负船体放样﹑号料以及船体零件的加工。船体装备焊接车间﹕完成船体零件﹑部件﹑分段﹑总段的装焊和船体总装工作。安装车间﹕负责船上机械设备及其附件的安装和调试。管子加工车间﹕进行管子及其附件的加工和安装。电工车间﹕负责电器和无线电设备的安装和调试。木工车间﹕负责木质家具﹑舱室的制作和安装﹐以及绝缘工作。油漆帆缆车间﹕负责除锈﹑涂漆和帆缆索具的制作和安装。起重运输车间﹕负责船舶的上墩﹑下水﹑进出坞以及船台﹑滑道﹑码头区的起重运输作业。此外还有各种辅助车间﹐主要有机修车间﹑工具车间﹑动力车间和中央试验室等。
