山东师范大学美术学院山东师范大学美术系（前艺术系），始建于1950年，是当时山东唯一的高等艺术教育单位。1958年与山东艺术学校合并成立山东艺术专科学校。1976年恢复组建山东师范学院艺术系，1992年成立山东师范大学美术系。1993年经国家学位委员会批准设立山东省第一个美术学硕士学位点，2000年设立艺术学硕士学位点，2001年成为国家教育硕士美术专业学位试点单位。目前，美术系有美术学和设计艺术学两个本科专业，艺术学、美术学、教育硕士专业学位三个硕士学位授权点，是山东省艺术学学科教学规模与层次最完整，研究人才最集中的单位，是国家教育部美术教育改革试点单位，山东师范大学重点学科。美术系现有中国画、油画、综合绘画、设计艺术四个教研室，和艺术学研究所。现有正教授7人，副教授11人。美术系坚持以教学促研究，以研究带教学的学科建设方针。近5年来，在当代中国艺术研究和绘画艺术创作方面成果显著。共出版专著23部，论文320篇，获国家级美术作品展奖10余项，产生了一批在全国、全省著名的艺术家、艺术理论家、教育家。承担并完成“九五”国家教育部人文社会科学研究项目“20世纪中国绘画美学”；山东省教育厅“面向21世纪，高师美术教育专业教学内容、课程体系改革与实践”等项目。目前在研项目：山东省哲学社会科学“十五”规划重点项目“中西绘画理论思想比较研究”；山东省艺术科学重点研究项目“中国工笔重彩画艺术”等。担任“九年义务教育《美术》教材”、“山东省五年制师范学校《美术》统编教材”、“高等学校美术学科技能课程教材”三大系列教材主编。美术系具有国内较好水平的电化教学室、电脑设计工作室、综合绘画工作室、版画工作室、摄影工作室等教学、教学科研设施及图书资料齐全。美术系积极开展对外交流，与多所国内外院校建立了经常的学术往来与教研合作关系。
