隆昌寺
位于南京汤山镇北约2公里的宝华山上。宝华山，因盛夏季节黄花满山而得名，周围36座山峰似36片莲花瓣，隆昌寺如莲花一般端坐其中。山间云雾缥缈，溪边流水叮咚，一年四季，松柏常青，确是一方非同寻常的佛教胜地。隆昌寺又称宝华寺，始建于公元502年，至今已有一千四百多年的历史。最初是梁代高僧宝志和尚在此结庵传经，故名宝志公庵。宝志即民间传说中济公和尚原型。明神宗敕赐大藏经及“护国圣化隆昌寺”的名称，于是改称隆昌寺。清康熙乾隆曾多次驾幸宝华山隆昌寺，足见其在佛教界的地位和影响。隆昌寺，是佛教律宗祖庭，有“禅宗第一名山”之称。寺内戒台只有有放戒资格的寺院才能拥有。放戒是佛教仪式之一，大概相当于现代大学授予学位一般。隆昌寺戒坛为汉白玉所制，原为木结构，律宗第二代祖师见月大和尚改为石制坛。据《宝华山志》载，见月造石戒坛时，开基的夜晚，感坛殿放光五色，直冲云霄，众山群楼，亮如白昼。隆昌寺律院先后放戒七十余期，戒僧遍及天下，东南亚、日本等地许多信徒也慕名前来受戒。凡取得隆昌寺工时牒的和尚，走遍全国大山名刹，都会得到热忱接待。隆昌寺号称有殿宇九百九十九间半，风格独特，四合方形宛如一座法坛。与众不同的是山门面北偏东，既小又僻。原来因皇上驾临寺院，故改山门面北以示接驾。至于山门较小，是因为律宗寺院戒律严格，将山门造小使僧人不能随便进出，也可避去尘俗烦扰。寺前还有一龙池，水位终年不变，可供数千人用水，僧人认为池水与长江相连。寺内所供佛像是贴金的香港天坛大佛的石膏小样，高5.24米，面含微笑，莲眼低垂，慈祥庄严，眉如新月，螺发复顶，神韵非凡，堪称东方艺术珍品。
