黄河沿渡口继扎陵湖渡口之下，黄河上源的第二个渡口就是黄河沿渡口。位于青海省果洛藏族自治州玛多县政府所在地黄河沿镇。它是自唐代开始，我国从内地通往西藏的重要驿站和古渡口，千百年来人们只靠牛、羊皮筏子过渡。解放后，于１９６６年在此渡口处建造了黄河源头第一座钢筋混凝土桥——黄河沿公路大桥。它把两岸的山川草原连接在一起。大桥北端，绵延的玛拉驿山在草原上宛如一只马蹄窝窝，黄河沿就居其间。黄河沿是个重镇，一排排红瓦粉墙的平房从山脚下一直建到坡顶，鳞次栉比，巍巍壮观。镇中心的影剧院如鹤立鸡群，鸟瞰全城。宽阔的丁字形街道两旁有县城的机关、商店、银行、医院和学校等。县城常住人口１４００人，而流动人口成倍增长，单是外地来此淘金的就逾常住人口的１０倍。昔日人迹寥寥的黄河沿，如今已成了人声喧闹的小市镇。每到新春佳节，当地藏族小伙子访亲寻友，聚在一起时有玩羊骨取乐的习俗。羊是黄河沿镇畜牧业经济的基本支柱，也是往来渡运的主要货物。羊群繁衍的好坏，直接与牧民生活攸关，也是渡口运输兴衰的标志。因此，他们爱羊而及其骨，有些人家把巴郎骨用绳穿起，上面刻上文字，挂在屋檐下，作为羊群日趋发展的象征。当地青年专用羊膝盖骨来玩耍。这个骨头上下正反四个面，竖起叫马，反过叫驴，俯叫绵羊，仰叫山羊，凡参加者数一二三四掷次的，每人持两枚，用手掷出，出现两个都是马的，藏语叫“达反”，为赢家；一马一驴的叫“厥达”，为二家。一马的叫“达哇”为三家；一驴的叫“厥哩”为四家。掷的次序确定后，把所有参加的两枚骨头交给头家，由头家掷散开。而后，马对马，驴对驴，绵羊对绵羊，山羊对山羊，用指去弹，弹中者胜。依次类推，周而复始，以赢得骨头多者为胜。人们对胜者总是竖起大拇指称赞：“尕娃厉害，赢得这么多骨头，真是好彩头。”当地人们把赢得羊骨的多少，作为新的一年夺取畜牧业大丰收的征兆。
