火炕利用炉灶的烟气通过炕体烟道采暖的设备，常见于中国北方地区，以及朝鲜、蒙古等国。火炕由炉灶、炕体和烟囱三部分构成。连炕的炉灶可以做饭，炕体既可取暖，又可坐卧。因地区和民族习惯的不同,火炕的平面布置也有差异,有南炕、北炕、顺山炕、万字炕（曲尺形）以及环室的凹形炕等。烟囱是砌筑的炕体排烟道。炕体有直洞式、横洞式、花洞式等。这些形式可归纳为并联式和串联式两类，前者散热均匀而抽风差，后者则相反。
