张扬是一名继承家学的花鸟画家。张扬的家族是一个对中国花鸟画有着特殊姻缘的传承家族，家族中的画家前辈有：叔公-张振铎，大伯父-张书旗，父亲-张世简，母亲-张琼芝。受其影响，自幼习字，学画，背诗。为当代著名花鸟画家，中央文史馆馆员，清华大学美术学院教授张世简之长子，亦是张氏花鸟画唯一继承传人。
张扬曾在工厂做过工人，电视新闻记者，诸多媒体的通讯员，在长期的社会活动中，在时光的逐步推移中张扬逐步意识到张氏花鸟画有可能是后继无人之境况，老一辈艺术家辛苦与付出的努力将要逐渐地消失。于是张扬辞去公职，闭门十余年随父习画，在父亲张世简的口传心授之下，深得其画风之精髓，同时兼习伯父张书旗笔意，全面继承张书旗之俏丽，张世简之豪放的写意风格。
在父亲的严格要求下，在几十年的寒窗习画期间，得到过许多老画家的指导；陈大章曾鼓励他画画要大胆，要敢画；焦可群称赞他的画“造型准确，用笔到位”； 阿老指导他要“多画”，黄均，吴广全，姚少华等画家也对他的作品给予肯定。同时张扬又向欧阳中石，林锴，候德昌，夏湘平等书法家请教书法。
Zhang Yang is a flower and bird painter who inherited family studies. Zhang Yang's family is a family that has a special affinity for Chinese flower and bird paintings. The painter's predecessors in the family are: Uncle-Zhangzhenduo, Uncle-Zhangshuqi, Father-Zhangshijian, and Mother-Zhangqiongzhi. Affected by it, he studied characters, studied painting, and wrote poetry since childhood. He is a famous contemporary flower and bird painter, a librarian of the Central Museum of Literature and History, and the eldest son of Zhangshijian, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University. He is also Zhang's flower and the only successor to the bird painting.
Zhang Yang once worked as a worker in a factory, a television journalist, and a correspondent of many media. During the long-term social activities, during the gradual passage of time, Zhang Yang gradually realized that Zhang's flower and bird paintings may be in a situation where there is no successor. The hard work and efforts of the older generation of artists will gradually disappear. Yushizhangyang resigned from public office and closed the door for more than ten years with his father's painting. Under his father Zhangshijian's oral biography, he won the essence of his style of painting. At the same time, he also learned from his uncle Zhangshuqi's pen, and fully inherited Zhangshuqi's beauty and Zhangshijian's bold style.
Under the strict request of his father, during the decades of cold window painting, he received the guidance of many old painters; Chendazhang once encouraged him to draw boldly and dare to paint; Jiao Kequn praised his painting as "accurate and in place with a pen"; A Lao directed him to "paint more". Artists such as Huangjun, Wuguangquan, and Yaoshaohua also affirmed his works. At the same time, Zhang Yang also asked Ouyang Zhongshi, Linkai, Houdechang, and Xiaxiang for calligraphy.
张扬的绘画作品在“似与不似之间”，首先是造型准确，组织合理，然后追求情趣，意境与神似。还要得到广大人民群众的喜爱和认可。
在继承传统探索未来之中，张扬更关心到生态环境保护与花鸟画的结合。经过五年多的潜心研究，摸索，实践，创作出了“飞翔的彩虹”国家一级保护鸟类系列作品，以及相适应的题画诗，共计十五种。希望以此系列作品作为一种媒介唤起人们对环境保护的重视和对鸟类生灵的关爱。
现为：中国美术家协会会员，中国城市艺术专业委员会委员，翰墨传承书画院院长，北京湖社画会理事，东方白马书画院副秘书长，花鸟画艺委会副主任，中国收藏拍卖网高级书画师，中国台北国宝画院兼职教授，台湾中华艺术学会高级顾问，被授予：“世界书画艺术名人”称号，录入香港《中国知名专家学者词典》，获“金紫荆花”荣誉勋章，被中国扶贫协会授予“热心公益事业的艺术家”.

In the course of exploring the future of inheriting the tradition, Zhang Yang is more concerned about the combination of ecological environment protection and flower and bird painting. After more than five years of dedicated research, exploration, and practice, he has created a series of "Flying Rainbow" national-level bird protection works, as well as a corresponding title poetry, a total of 15 kinds. It is hoped that this series of works will serve as a medium to arouse people's attention to environmental protection and care for bird beings.
He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the China Urban Arts Professional Committee, a director of the Hanmo Biography Painting Institute, a director of the Beijing Hushe Painting Society, a deputy secretary-general of the Oriental White Horse Painting Academy, a deputy director of the Flower and Bird Painting Art Committee, and a senior calligraphy artist of the China Collection Auction Network. He is an adjunct professor at the National Treasure Painting Institute in Taipei, China, and a senior advisor to the Taiwan Chinese Art Society. He was awarded the title of "World Famous Painting and Calligraphy" and entered in Hong Kong's "Famous Chinese Experts"
